The club can confirm that both Calum Smith and Neil Janczyk have agreed deals with the club and will add extra depth to the squad for the forthcoming league campaign. Both players have impressed in most of the pre-season friendlies to date.

O'Neill is delighted with the latest developments, he said: "It gives us a wee bit more depth to the squad. Calum is a young lad and is one more option for us upfront.

"Janczyk has more experience from his time at Hearts and St Johnstone. He lost his way a wee bit but when you see him in training there is certainly a very talented player in there.

"His attitude is first class and I think he realises that this is an opportunity for him and a chance to rebuild his career and I hope we can do that for him."

Calum is just 19 years of age and was released by Dunfermline at the end of the season. Last season he was on the bench for the first team three times and he made his competitive first team debut against Ayr United at Somerset Park in the CIS Cup. He scored in the sudden death penalty shoot out that night to keep the Pars in the Cup. He made his SPL debut the following Saturday (26/08/06) at Pittodrie, again coming on as substitute.

Janczyk is 24 years of age and has a wealth of experience despite being relatively young. Neil started his career at Hearts where he made 25 appearances for the first team before going on loan at Alloa in 2003. He joined 1st Division side St Johnstone in 2005 but was out of favour at McDiarmid and went out on loan to Raith and Stranraer last season. Neil is nicknamed 'Scrabble', most likely because his name would gain a lot of points in a scrabble game!
