Brechin City v Arbroath - Match Preview - By Steven Mew

City welcome local rivals Arbroath to Glebe Park tomorrow hoping to build on a confidence boosting 4-0 win over Forfar Athletic last weekend.

Barry Smith's side know they have a tough task ahead of them to overcome the Red Lichties who have started the season in stupendous form. Under the guidance of former City gaffer Dick Campbell, they are currently unbeaten in League One and sit a mammoth 10 points clear of nearest challengers Raith Rovers.

TEAM NEWS
The players trained well this week, again working hard and showing good attitude. There are no new injuries to report, leaving skipper Paul McLean, striker Dene Shields and St Johnstone loanee Callum Hendry as the only absentees. Boris Melingui suffered a dead leg against Forfar - which is what saw him substituted in the second half but he returns to full fitness and is available for selection.

Manager, Barry Smith said: "The boost the players enjoyed from last week's result gives us a solid platform for going into Saturday's game. We know it'll be a tough against the league's in-form side who are full of confidence themselves, but we're definitely looking to make Glebe Park into a difficult place for teams to come and take points away from.

"The players can take just as many positives from the clean sheet against Forfar as they do from the four goals scored so, from Conor's penalty save right through to Jacko's double and first club goals for Aron (Lynas) and Cameron (Blues), the players are really looking forward to the game. The City fans will have enjoyed their weekend as a result, so we can hopefully count on them for positive backing again for this particular Angus derby."

Arbroath meanwhile report a full squad to choose from, with the exception of on-loan striker Callum Smith who remains sidelined with a broken wrist. Manager Dick Campbell will watch from the stand after he was handed an eight game touchline suspension earlier today.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The first fixture between the sides this season occurred at Gayfield at the start of September. It looked ominous for City as the home side came flying out the traps and were two ahead after just 19 minutes with goals from Jason Thomson and Bobby Linn. Many expected an on-form Arbroath side to add to their lead but City battled back in the second half to earn a deserved point thanks to a brace from Andy Jackson.
