Brechin City v Forfar Athletic - Match Preview - By Steven Mew

It's the dawn of a new era tomorrow afternoon as newly appointed Manager Barry Smith takes his place in the Glebe Park dugout for the first time alongside Assistant Stevie Campbell - and where better to start than a local derby against Forfar Athletic.

TEAM NEWS
On-loan St Johnstone striker Callum Hendry will be out for at least 5-6 weeks with a fractured hand he sustained during the Raith game at Starks Park last weekend - he will join fellow frontman Dene Shields on the sidelines. Skipper Paul McLean is still struggling with injury and remains doubtful. Meanwhile, Jordan Sinclair has trained well this week and comes back into contention.

Manager Barry Smith spoke ahead of the game, "Having met the players for the first time on Tuesday, Stevie and I have enjoyed two really strong training sessions with the players who have responded well and worked really hard. Part of where we are now is the getting to know you, and the setting of expectations.

"We have a better group of players than the current league position would suggest and we're all looking forward to the November run of games starting with our 2 Angus derbies. Forfar Athletic at home is a cracking start - with the added wee twist that Jim Weir was Brechin City manager during the latter period of my time at The Glebe as a player.

"Hopefully the fans get right behind us as we're all in it together, and I know for sure that the players, Stevie and I are right up for this."

MATCH OFFICIALS
Taking charge of the derby tomorrow is David Dickinson, he will be assisted by John McCrossan and Jonathan Gall. Dickinson has already officiated a City game this season - that being the first competitive game, a 0-0 draw in the Betfred Cup against Peterhead in which the Blue Toon emerged victorious on penalties for a bonus point.

MATCH SPONSORS
Our match sponsors tomorrow are Brechin Bowling Club - as ever we look forward to welcoming them as our boardroom guests once again.

LAST TIME OUT
Under the watchful eye of Interim Manager Stevie Campbell, City went down narrowly to Raith Rovers at Starks Park. A double from top scorer Kevin Nisbit had Raith in control but a late consolation from Andy Jackson ensured a nervy ending for the hosts.

The Loons, meanwhile were 1-0 winners at Airdrieonians last weekend, which made it an impressive 3 wins on the trot for Jim Weir's men.

PREVIOUS MEETING
The meeting at Station Park in September saw the sides share the spoils in a 1-1 draw. St Johnstone loanee Callum Hendry opened his account for City in the first half but a headed goal by Loons skipper Michael Travis midway through the second period earned the Sky Blues a deserved point.
