It’s a quick turnaround for City as they are back in action tomorrow afternoon, with high-flying Hill of Beath Hawthorn the visitors to the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park.

A hard-fought 1-0 victory over University of Stirling on Wednesday extended City’s winning run to six matches and Andy Kirk’s side will be looking to make it seven on the bounce against the Fife outfit.

However tomorrow’s visitors are also enjoying an excellent run of form and head into the contest on the back of six consecutive victories themselves, setting up an intriguing clash.

TEAM NEWS

City will welcome Brad McKay back into the squad having now served his 2 match suspension but will continue to be without the injured Spencer Moreland, Kieran Inglis, Kyle Bell, Euan Spark and Adam Hutchinson.

MANAGERS COMMENTS

Reflecting on the narrow victory over University of Stirling in midweek, Manager Andy Kirk commented, “Overall I thought we were poor on Wednesday – we had some nice bits in the first half but not consistently enough and the chances we missed changed the feel of the game. If we managed to get another goal then it would have given us some comfort and the confidence but we never done that.

“I think the missed chances affected us a bit and the second half was the worst I’ve seen us for a while. When you’re 1-0 up the opposition always have a chance of getting back into the game and they put us under pressure and should have scored. We were fortunate to come away with the win but at the end of the day we’ve still picked up 3 points despite not playing well. In that respect we can’t complain too much but we’ve got to be so much better.

“We could certainly do with getting some of the injured players back as the players that are out there are playing week in week out and I thought they looked a bit leggy in the second half on Wednesday. Brad McKay will come back into the squad for tomorrow which will help and hopefully in the next 2/3 weeks we’ll have another couple back in the mix as well.

Looking forward to tomorrow’s fixture against in-form Hill of Beath Hawthorn, Andy added, “Wednesday was a bit of a wake up call and Saturday’s game allows us to try and get that focus back again and do the ugly part of the game better. Hill of Beath have started the season well and they deserve to be sitting where they are at the moment. Like us they’ve won their last 6 games so they’ll have good confidence going into this game so we know it’s going to be tough. However we’re at home and I think we have a point to prove after the second half in midweek.”

LAST TIME OUT

City were narrow 1-0 winners over University of Stirling in midweek, with Darren Watson netting the only goal of the game on 12 minutes.

Hill of Beath meanwhile were also 1-0 winners in their last fixture as John Smith’s goal 16 minutes from time earned them the victory at home to Musselburgh Athletic on Tuesday evening.
