City will be looking to continue where they left off in midweek as we make our first ever journey to Netherdale to take on Gala Fairydean Rovers tomorrow afternoon.
City will come up against a Gala Fairydean side currently sitting 13th in the Lowland League East. They had made an impressive start to the campaign with a narrow victory victory over Cowdenbeath at Central Park on the opening day, but have since managed just one further victory in their last 18 fixtures across all competitions. That win did however come in emphatic fashion a fortnight ago, as Gala ran out 5-1 winners over Dunipace.
TEAM NEWS
City will have the same squad to select from as Tuesday evening, with only Kyle Bell, Kieran Inglis and Adam Hutchinson set to miss out through injury. Captain Euan Spark had been substituted at half time due to fatigue in midweek but will be available for tomorrow’s match.
MANAGERS COMMENTS

Speaking on the victory over East Stirlingshire in midweek, Manager Andy Kirk said, “I thought we had started fairly well and got the early goal but then we made a few mistakes and conceded a really poor goal for the equaliser and the game became fairly even at that point. It was a similar type of performance as we’ve been producing lately with some good aspects and some not so good. If we could have got a second goal whilst we were on top early on then I think it would have been a different game.“
“We started the second half much the same and then we started to take a bit of control and we finished the game off pretty strong. Playing 120 minutes in tough conditions on Saurday will have definately played its part but we have to get back to a more consistent performance and that’s the frustrating thing at the minute. As a group we need to keep working hard to try and put that right.
Mitch Taylor and Darren Watson came off the bench and helped turn the game in City’s favour. Andy added, “We picked up a team based on what we thought was right and Mitch had been out recently with his calf whilst Darren is quite explosive and put a lot into the game on Saturday so we were just trying to be careful with them. We knew if we could put them on for the last 30 minutes they were going to cause a lot of problems with their pace and both of them were brilliant when they came on.
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s match against Gala Fairydean, he commented, “We’ll be looking to continue where we left off on Tuesday. We analysed the footage and went over the things that we did well in the second half and we just need to build on that performance and see if we can carry that into tomorrow’s match.”

LAST TIME OUT

City returned to winning ways in the league on Tuesday evening with a 3-1 victory over East Stirlingshire at the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park. Dale Hilson gave City an ideal start when he opened the scoring after just nine minutes, but the visitors responded shortly afterwards as Sonny Aluko levelled the contest on the quarter hour mark.
City stepped up the tempo after the break, with the introductions of Mitch Taylor and Darren Watson helping to turn the game in their favour. Watson restored City’s lead with quarter of an hour remaining as he headed home from Taylor’s cross, before Taylor himself added a third five minutes later to seal a comfortable victory in the end.
Gala Fairydean were in action on Wednesday evening as they went down 4-0 to a Broxburn Athletic side that moved to the top of the league in the process. Jamie Docherty netted a 10-minute hat-trick in the first half before Errol Douglas added a 4th late in the second half.
