Kevin McAllister Joins Brechin City - By Ken Ferguson

Brechin City Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Kevin McAllister as the club’s new assistant-manager. The former Hibs midfield player swapping his role as a scout for one of the UK’s leading clubs to be the new number two at Glebe Park.

“Crunchie” took up his post this weekend when he helped manager, Michael O’Neill; put the squad through a rigorous training session in Brechin.

Kevin comes with a great pedigree in football on both sides of the border. His playing career was spent with Falkirk, where he had a total of four spells in all, Hibernian and Chelsea.

It was at Stamford Bridge that Kevin has been working of late, their former midfield player being employed as the Premiership clubs Scottish scout.

City manager Michael O’Neill was delighted to recruit his former Hibs team mate and feels he will do a wonderful job at the club: “Kevin is a top class coach and a first class guy who brings with him a wealth of experience in the game in both Scotland and England.

“Kevin also has the advantage of having already had a spell in part-time football (he managed Albion Rovers for two years), as well as working more recently at the top level for Chelsea as their scout in Scotland.

“He met the players for the first time on Saturday and was very well received by the lads. I think he has a great contribution to make here at Glebe Park and the committee and I are absolutely delighted to have someone with his experience as part of our coaching set-up.”

Ironically, Kevin’s ‘debut’ in the dug-out comes tomorrow (Tuesday) when a strong Hibs side visit Glebe Park in City’s first pre-season friendly. Kick-off (7.45).
