Andy Kirk Returns as City Manager - By Steven Mew

Brechin City Football Club is delighted to announce the return of Andy Kirk as Manager.

A familiar and highly respected figure among City supporters, Andy returns to Glebe Park having previously managed the Club between 2021 and 2023.

Paul Watson will continue in his role as Player/Assistant Manager whilst the coaching and backroom staff will remain unchanged.

The former Northern Ireland internationalist was previously tasked with rebuilding the squad following relegation from the SPFL and City showed significant progress under his tenure.

This culminated in an outstanding 2022/23 campaign where City lost just one league match all season and were crowned Highland League Champions following a dramatic final day decider against Buckie Thistle at Victoria Park.

Kirk's impact did not go unnoticed as he was subsequently named Highland League Manager of the Year.

In November 2023, he departed the club to pursue opportunities at full-time level, joining St Johnstone as Assistant Manager to Craig Levein. More recently, he served as Assistant Manager to Barry Robson at Raith Rovers.

Chairman Kevin Mackie commented, "I am delighted that Andy has agreed to return to Brechin City. It was vital to act quickly and continue our push to challenge for the league this season.

"Andy knows this Club, understands what it means to our supporters and shares our hunger to succeed. I look forward to welcoming him back.

"The Board of Directors remain fully committed to backing the Management Team and will continue to support any opportunity that strengthens the squad and moves us closer to our objective.

"Promotion back into the SPFL continues to be the key objective for the Club and we remain focused on delivering that goal. I would like all of our fans for their continued support and backing."

Everyone at Brechin City Football Club would like to extend a warm welcome back to Andy and wish him every success in his return to the Manager’s role.
