City return to action tomorrow with a trip to Seafield Park to face Strathspey Thistle for what will be our first Highland League outing in three weeks.
Ray McKinnon's men will come up against a Strathspey side who are arguably the most improved side in the league - the Grantown-on-Spey outfit currently sit in 11th place after finishing second bottom last year.
TEAM NEWS
City's injury situation continues to improve with Dugald Farquhar set to return to the squad following a shoulder injury whilst a late decision will be made on Brad McKay who has also returned to training over the last couple of weeks.
Mitch Taylor will be City's only definite absentee as he continues to recover from a broken toe, whilst Fraser Macleod is a doubt with a back problem.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
With City's match against Nairn County postponed last weekend due to torrential rainfall, City's last fixture came against Kelty Hearts in the Scottish Cup a fortnight ago. On that game, Manager Ray McKinnon commented,
"We had a couple of chances in the first half and there wasn't an awful lot between the teams and they got a rub of the green with their deflected goal.
"I thought we started the second half well enough but the second goal killed us along with the sending off which was a very poor decision but I thought the boys competed well but we didn't create an awful lot going forward. We were disappointed to lose the game but we weren't miles off it.
We are working on bringing bodies in at the moment but we need to make sure it is the right players coming in for the second half of the season. We may have to wait until January to do a bit of business but if we can do it sooner and right players come up then we will."

LAST TIME OUT
City's Highland League Cup fixture against Nairn County last weekend unfortunately fell foul to the weather, with their last outing being the defeat to Kelty Hearts in the Scottish Cup a fortnight ago. Owing to postponements, Strathspey have been out of action for almost a month with their last fixture coming on 15th November when they defeated Lossiemouth 3-2 at Seafield Park to make it 3 league games unbeaten.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 3-0 Strathspey Thistle - 2nd August 2025
Brechin City extended their strong start in the Highland League with a 3–0 home victory over Strathspey Thistle, making it three wins from three at the start of the season.
All of the goals came in the first half as City took control early on a sweltering afternoon; Paul Watson opened the scoring from close range before Grady McGrath converted a penalty to double the lead. Cillian Sheridan finished a well-worked move just before the break to seal the win.
