After bowing out of the Scottish Cup last weekend, attention now turns to the R Davidson Highland League Cup tomorrow afternoon as we take on Nairn County in the second round (kick off 2pm).
TEAM NEWS
City will welcome Craig Hepburn back in goal after being unavailable for the Scottish Cup last weekend, whilst Finlay Allan will also return from suspension. Dugald Farquhar returned to full training last night and will be included in the squad. Brad McKay also trained on Thursday although it may be a week or two before he is involved in the matchday squad. Mitch Taylor continues to make progress after sustaining a broken toe but is still likely to be missing for a few weeks.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the defeat against Kelty Hearts in the 3rd round of the Scottish Cup last weekend, Manager Ray McKinnon commented,
We had a couple of chances in the first half and there wasn't an awful lot between the teams and they got a rub of the green with their deflected goal.
"I thought we started the second half well enough but the second goal killed us along with the sending off which was a very poor decision but I thought the boys competed well but we didn't create an awful lot going forward. We were disappointed to lose the game but we weren't miles off it."
Looking ahead to tomorrow's Highland League cup tie, Ray said,
"It's a cup that we want to win and we need to have the mentality of trying to win every single game and get into the habit.
With Craig Tosh and Dayle Robertson moving on from the Club this week, McKinnon will be looking to add to his squad, he added
"We are working on bringing bodies in at the moment but we need to make sure it is the right players coming in for the second half of the season. We may have to wait until January to do a bit of business but if we can do it sooner and right players come up then we will."

LAST TIME OUT
City were in Scottish Cup action last weekend as they bowed out in the 3rd round following a 2-0 defeat away from home against Kelty Hearts. Nairn meanwhile were in league action as they recorded a thumping 6-1 victory on their travels against Deveronvale.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 3-0 Nairn County - 5th April 2025
The meeting between the sides at the start of last month was unfortunately abandoned at half time following the tragic passing of Nairn County supporter Peter Gow.
The prior meeting between the sides saw City record a comfortable victory over Nairn County in the penultimate league fixture of last season to ensure the Highland League Championship went down to the final day. Brad McKay opened the scoring on the half hour mark to put City ahead, before a Cillian Sheridan double just before the break more or less had the game sewn up by half time. City pushed for more goals in the second half, but they were unable to add to their tally.
SPONSORSHIP & MASCOT
Tomorrow's match sponsor is Committee Member Dick Robertson, whilst the matchball has been sponsored by Robert Stewart.
