Brechin City welcome Clachnacuddin to the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon as the two sides meet in the first round of the R Davidson (Banchory) Highland League Cup.
Clach will arrive in Angus buoyed by an impressive start to their campaign, sitting fifth in the Highland League table and just four points adrift of City. The Inverness side have shown real resilience in recent meetings between the clubs in Brechin, taking a point in the last league encounter at the end of August which mirrored the result last season.
Whilst City's primary focus remains on their league ambitions, this season represents their final opportunity to lift the Highland League Cup. Ray McKinnon's side will therefore be eager to ensure their name remains in the draw for the next round.
TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without the services of Brad McKay, Adam Hutchinson, Dugald Farquhar and Dayle Robertson. They are joined on the sidelines by Mitch Taylor who had limped off last weekend with a thigh injury. Manager Ray McKinnon is hopeful of having a new signing added to his squad ahead of tomorrow's game.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Looking forward to tomorrow's cup tie, Manager Ray McKinnon said,
"We are trying to get some consistency in our play at the moment and it's an opportunity for us to go out there and show that. We will probably make some changes tomorrow but we want to progress in this cup, there's no doubt about that.
"Clach will provide tough opposition, they are a decent side with plenty of threat going forward which we saw in the game against them a couple of months back. We are looking forward to the game and hopefully we can play with a bit of freedom and get the victory."

LAST TIME OUT
City's fixture against Nairn County last weekend was abandoned at half time due to the tragic passing of supporter Peter Gow. Despite a quickfire equaliser from Spencer Moreland which had cancelled out Ben Barron's early opener, Calum Mackay's goal shortly after the half hour mark had given the home side the lead at the break. Clach meanwhile racked up an impressive 6-0 victory over Forres Mechanics with a hat-trick from Allan MacPhee, a double from James Anderson and a further strike from Fergus Adams.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 1-1 Clachnacuddin - 30 August 2025
The two sides shared the spoils in the last meeting between in the sides in a league fixture in August. The deadlock had yet to be broken by the time City were reduced to 10 men on 63 minutes when Mitch Taylor was issued a second yellow card for dissent. City rallied however and Paul Watson smashed home on 83 minutes for what looked to be the winner. Clach meanwhile had other ideas and with 3 minutes remaining they were awarded a penalty for handball. Despite Craig Hepburn saving the initial penalty, Josh Meekings was on hand to convert the rebound to rescue a point for the Lilywhites.
