Match Preview | Brechin City v Clachnacuddin - By Steven Mew

Following a share of the spoils last weekend, City will be aiming to return to winning ways but will face a stern test against an in-form Clachnacuddin side tomorrow afternoon.

Although Ray McKinnon's side will have been disappointed not to come away with a victory last weekend, the draw preserved their unbeaten status whilst continuing a fine defensive record which has seen them concede just 1 goal in the opening 7 league matches.

Travelling to the Glebe tomorrow is a Clach side that finished 6th last season and they have started the season strongly, currently sitting in 3rd place having lost just once in the league so far. The Inverness side, like City, boast a strong defensive record having only leaked 3 so far in 7 games.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to miss Dayle Robertson through injury but Cillian Sheridan returns to the squad having missed the game last weekend. Ben Armour, who limped off in that game, will miss out.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the goalless draw against Deveronvale at the weekend, Manager Ray McKinnon commented, "The surface there was terrible and was extremely dry and we found it difficult to string much together. It was one of those games where it just didn't go for us and these things happen.

"The positive is that we didn't concede a goal but we didn't really create enough in the game. We will now look to go on another winning run.

"Our defensive record has been excellent considering the likes of Brad McKay has been unavailable for several games and we've had to constantly change the back line and there has been no continuity. Taking that into account the guys have done great."

Looking ahead to tomorrow's fixture, Ray said, "Clach have started the season really brightly and they look like they'll be a real threat going forward. It'll be a tough game but we're at home and we'll be going out to win the game."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 1-1 Clachnacuddin - 1st March 2025
City were held to a frustrating home draw back in March after substitute Scott Logan struck late to cancel out James Anderson’s opener for Clach.

Despite creating several first-half chances—including a header from Scott Bright cleared off the line and a golden opportunity for Dayle Robertson—City couldn’t find the breakthrough.

Clach took the lead on 70 minutes from a corner, but Logan’s equaliser rescued a point six minutes from time. City pushed for a winner but couldn’t find it, leaving them to rue dropped points in the title race.
