Match Preview | Deveronvale v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

Brechin City are Banff-bound this weekend as we travel to face Deveronvale aiming to make it 7 straight wins in the Breedon Highland League.

Ray McKinnon's side will head north brimming with confidence having negotiated two tricky fixtures against Banks O' Dee and Buckie Thistle to maintain their 100% record.

Deveronvale, who are managed by former City striker Garry Wood, will be looking to get back on track following a 3-0 defeat against a resurgent Strathspey Thistle side last week, which had followed back-to-back victories over Lossiemouth and Keith.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without the services of Dayle Robertson through injury, whilst there are doubts over a couple of other players but will be assessed on the day.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Speaking on the 5-0 victory over Buckie Thistle last weekend, Manager Ray McKinnon said, "I'd be off my head to say I wasn't delighted with a 5-0 victory and some of the goals were fantastic. We had to work hard for it as Buckie are a good side and although it was a tremendous result for us, the game was more difficult than the scoreline suggests.

"All three goals in the first half were excellent and then you have Mitch Taylor's free kick early in the second half - that was outstanding and a moment of real quality. From then on we saw the game out pretty well and Tosher managed to get a really good goal as well.

"Banks O' Dee was a tough game in midweek against a physical side and it was another physical game against Buckie too - the great thing is that the team stood up to that well and we've picked up 6 points."

Recent loan signing Wallace Baird made his debut with Ray adding, "With Brad McKay unavailable due to his partner going into labour, we decided to give Wallace the opportunity and for us to have a look at him. We threw him in at the deep end and he done fine and will only improve and get better - we're delighted to have him."
