Match Preview | Brechin City v Strathspey Thistle - By Steven Mew

City will look to continue their promising start to the Highland League campaign as we host Strathspey Thistle at the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park tomorrow.

Despite a strong start to the season with 2 wins, 9 goals and zero conceded, City will have to wary of a Strathspey side that have opened up their season with wins over Keith and Rothes - the first time they have won their first two games since they came into the Highland League.

TEAM NEWS
City are set to welcome back Adam Hutchinson after missing the last two matches meaning Brad McKay and Dayle Robertson will be City's only definite absentees. Ben Armour came on as a late substitute against Keith on Wednesday as he builds up his fitness following injury.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Following a fine midweek victory over Keith, Manager Ray McKinnon commented, "We didn't get going in the first 30 minutes but we worked our way into the game eventually. It was a makeshift back 4 and that perhaps helped Keith in the opening exchanges. We changed the system a little bit just before the opening goal as we didn't have control of the game for whatever reason and the two goals we got before half time were good and we probably could have had another one or two.

"The third goal in particular was an excellent move and very well-worked but fair play to Keith who had a go at us in the second half."

Mitchell Findlay made another great impact from the bench as he added another two goals after netting his first at the weekend. Ray added, "Mitchell has done great in the two games he's come on and has looked super lively and the same goes for Craig Tosh. The pre-season schedule has served us well because it was very tough for us and everyone is at a decent level.

Ben Armour also made his first competitive appearance as he came on as a late substitute. Ray said, "Ben isn't quite fit yet and he's still feeling his ankle a bit but we just wants to be back involved. Ben will do really well for us, he's a strong lad and will hold up the ball well. He's maybe still a couple of weeks off.

Looking ahead to tomorrow's league fixture against Strathspey, he added, "Strathspey have strengthened their team considerably - they've got players in from the likes of Ross County so we're fully aware they are a much improved side and it'll be a tough test tomorrow so we'll need to be up for the game."
