Brechin City Football Club is delighted to confirm the launch of our new U20s Development Squad, following our successful application to join the East of Scotland U20's Development League.
We’ve been placed in the North Conference, with matches scheduled for Friday evenings, kicking off on 15th August 2025.
The squad will be led by Kevin Flynn, supported by Leigh Kingston, Goalkeeping Coach Stewart Black, and Gordon Alexander forming a strong and experienced coaching team.
We’re also proud to announce that Scott Fraser, current Dundee FC midfielder and founder of Control Football Academy, has joined the U20s coaching staff. With a career spanning Dundee United, Hearts, Burton Albion, MK Dons, Ipswich Town and Charlton Athletic, Scott brings invaluable experience and a passion for developing young talent.
Chairman Kevin Mackie said: I’m delighted the East of Scotland League has admitted a Brechin City U20s team for the upcoming season.
"Working with Kevin Flynn and his coaching team to develop potential future first-team players is a fantastic step for the club.
"While the Brechin Community Football Trust remains an important part of our long-term player development, the reality is our senior squad often pulls players from Glasgow and Edinburgh and so any initiative that helps us discover talent closer to home is a welcome one.
"Huge credit to Club Director Peter Carmichael for his passion and drive in turning this vision into reality in such a short space of time."
Club Director Peter Carmichael added, "This is the fulfilment of a long-standing goal to provide another route into senior football for players across Angus, Dundee, Fife, Perth, and Kinross, particularly those released from academies or late bloomers.
"Thanks to my fellow Directors for their support, and special recognition to Kevin, Leigh and the team for 18 months of hard work.
"The squad trains in Dundee and will draw from players already involved with our coaching setup."
