Match Preview | St Johnstone B v Brechin City
- By
Steven Mew
City make the relatively short trip down the A90 to take on St Johnstone B in the first round of the SPFL Trust Trophy tomorrow evening.
The winner of the tie will travel to East Fife in round 2, with City undoubtedly looking to build on their opening day win against Keith on Saturday and set up a re-match against Dick Campbell's side.
TEAM NEWS
With no fresh injury concerns to report, City should travel to McDiarmid Park with a full squad tomorrow.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the opening day win over Keith at the weekend, Manager Patrick Cregg said, "First of all it was objective achieved so the lads deserve credit for that. It doesn't matter what sport it is, the objective is to win. Keith deserve a lot of credit, they are a good team and asked us a lot of questions.
Do we need to go up a level? Yes we do. However we showed resilience, character and desire to get back in the game as it's a difficult position being one goal down at half time and nobody wants to be in that position. We scored three goals and missed a penalty and we could have had more.
The first 20 minutes in the second half is the level where we need to be and that is our standard. We need to do that for a longer duration of the game. I thought Anthony McDonald showed his quality and was a difference-maker."
