Match Preview | Keith v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

City head into the penultimate league game of the season against Keith at Kynoch Park tomorrow evening looking to keep their pursuit of the league title on track (8pm kick off).

City will head into tomorrow's match brimming with confidence following an excellent 6-1 victory over Forres Mechanics at the weekend.

Following an impressive 10 game unbeaten run, Keith have lost their last two fixtures against Buckie Thistle and Wick Academy respectively and will be looking to get back on track.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without Sean Hastie, whilst Matthew Wright is a doubt after taking an ankle knock whilst scoring against Forres Mechanics at the weekend. Otherwise, Manager Gavin Price is likely to have the rest of the squad at his disposal.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on a thumping 6-1 victory over Forres Mechanics on Saturday, Manager Gavin Price praised his sides' relentlessness, he said, "We obviously had the setback of going a goal behind early on and we took a while to get going. However from half an hour onwards I thought we dominated the game and we had a real energy about us which is what we asked.

"You've got to win the game first and foremost and if you are thinking about goals then it can distract you from controlling the game. You've got to get the balance right and I think we did that second half - we were very efficient and created plenty of chances. We move onto Keith on Tuesday and see what we can do there."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 3-1 Keith - 22 November 2023
Keith provided the opposition in what was Gavin Price's first match as Brechin City Manager as he got his tenure at Glebe Park off to a winning start.

Much of the work was done by City in the first half having gone 3-1 up with just 20 minutes courtesy of goals from Fraser MacLeod, Marc Scott and Grady McGrath. Had it not been for some wasteful finishing and fine goalkeeping, the scoreline could have been far higher at the break.

City were unable to replicate that showing in the second half – perhaps put off their stride by a 10 minute period of floodlight failure - but did more than enough to earn the all important 3 points.
