Match Preview | Brechin City v Hibernian B - By Steven Mew

After defeating Hearts B on penalties in the first round a fortnight ago, City will face the other half of Edinburgh as we take on Hibernian B in the 2nd round of the SPFL Trust Trophy the the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park this evening.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without Anthony McDonald, but otherwise every other player should be available for selection.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the victory over Brora Rangers at the weekend, Manager Andy Kirk commented, "The important thing is the result and we've managed to get the three points. There were some good aspects to our play but I thought we looked a little tired in certain points and we are normally a little bit sharper. In the second half we had 3 sitters all within the space of 5 minutes or something like that so the game could have been out of sight at that point.

"You run the risk of conceding a goal at that point and Brora broke up the park and hit the post but I thought we defended well and I'm pleased with the players that they managed to get the result.

"The Viaplay Cup was a great experience for us and challenging ourselves against teams from higher divisions but now we can get back to our regular routine of training and I think the sharpness levels will continue to jump up."

Seth Patrick was named as the sponsors man of the match, with Andy adding, "That's what we've come to expect from Seth and that's why we brought him back - the fitter he will get the better the performances he will put in. I also thought Ryan Ferguson was excellent and had a hand in both goals. I just needed a bit of experience and know-how in that area of the pitch - he's been full-time with Dundee United and has experience of a higher level and he knows the club well. Hamish (Thomson) was also solid at the back but everyone played their part."
