Match Preview | Wick Academy v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

City will make the near 10-hour round trip tomorrow afternoon to take on Wick Academy in what will be the first meeting between the clubs this season.

The message will be 'more of the same' for Andy Kirk's side as they look to continue their unbeaten league record. A 6-0 victory over Strathspey Thistle last weekend saw City return to the top of the division on goal difference with two games in hand over nearest challengers Buckie Thistle.

Wick, who currently sit 12th in the Breedon Highland League, will be looking to bounce back from a 6-0 defeat against Banks O' Dee last time out.

The Scorries' progress has been hindered somewhat with postponements, having only played 4 league matches since early November.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without the injured Euan Spark and Michael McArthur, but otherwise the rest of the squad will be available for selection.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Looking back on the win over Strathspey Thistle last weekend, manager Andy Kirk said, "We always try to put on a performance at home and I thought the boys dealt with the game well. The pitch was a bit difficult and when you're so far on top, you can get complacent at times. I thought we kept our standards as high as they could be. With 6 goals, a clean sheet and back to the top of the league it turned out to be a very positive day for us."

City will now embark on their longest journey of the season tomorrow, with Andy commenting, "It's a long trip but these games are part of the journey that we're on. We'll travel up on Friday night and it gives the boys the chance to spend some time together. We'll then have a shorter trip up on the Saturday morning in comparison to the some of the away matches. We're preparing properly and trying to do things as professional as we can - it's then up to the players to give us a performance.

A 19-minute second half hat-trick from Marc Scott helped City to a convincing win at Glebe Park against a Wick Academy side that finished the game with 9 men.

Jordan Northcott had given City the lead after 10 minutes but they were pegged back by Mark Macadie's equaliser which put the sides level at the break.

A fortuitous deflected goal from Hamish Thomson put City back ahead 4 minutes after the restart before Marc Scott's hat-trick late on which rounded off the win.
