Squad Update - By Steven Mew

As intimated in the Chairman's update last week, the Club so far have 11 players retained for next season, with further negotiations ongoing with other members of the playing squad.

With captain Iain Davidson, Kevin McHattie, Hamish Thomson and Cammie Ross already under contract, they are joined by Marc Scott, Jamie Bain, Ewan Loudon, Michael Cruickshank, Kieran Inglis, Seth Patrick and Iain Ross who have all agreed contract extensions.

The Club can confirm that following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season, Garry Wood, Murray Mackintosh, Michael Paton and Cameron Winter will all be moving on to pastures new whilst Jack Wills, Jordan Northcott and Layton Bisland return to their respective parent clubs.

As confirmed elsewhere, Garry Wood has signed a pre-contract agreement with fellow Highland League side Inverurie Locos. The big striker made 32 appearances, scoring 10 goals and notably netted his 150th career goal in his 500th career appearance last month, coincidentally against the side he will join in the summer.

Moving into warmer climates is midfielder Murray Mackintosh who is heading to Australia. 'Muz' has been a popular figure amongst the squad, making 31 appearances and scoring 4 times. One of those goals was an outstanding strike in the Scottish Cup 3rd round replay against Darvel which was voted as goal of the round and subsequently City's goal of the season.

Following two seasons of representing City both as a player and a manager, Michael Paton's second spell at the club comes to an end. Having represented City on loan from Aberdeen as a youngster, 'Pates' returned to the Glebe over a decade later in October 2020 and would be appointed Player/Manager the following month after Mark Wilson's departure. Following a mutual termination of his managerial role at the end of the 2020/21 campaign, he remained as a player and was a regular in the heart of midfield last season.

Also moving on is young goalkeeper Cameron Winter who has served as backup in the absence of both Jack Wills and Iain Ross throughout the season.

Following the expiry of their loan contracts, goalkeeper Jack Wills and attacker Jordan Northcott return to St Johnstone whilst defender Layton Bisland heads back to Dundee United. Our grateful thanks go to both clubs for allowing these players to continue their development through regular football whilst at City.

The Club would like to place on record our thanks to all departing players for their efforts throughout the season and wish them well for the future.
