Match Preview | Darvel v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

City will go head-to-head with West of Scotland Premier side Darvel once again tomorrow afternoon in a Scottish Cup 3rd round replay at Recreation Park.

The sides played out a 1-1 draw in front of the BBC cameras at Glebe Park on Monday evening, with David Cox cancelling out a first half opener from ex-City loanee Jordan Kirkpatrick.

With the draw for the 4th round made immediately following the tie on Monday, both sides go into the replay knowing that a trip to face Championship side Arbroath awaits.

TEAM NEWS
After missing out through a slight injury on Monday evening, City will hope to welcome back experienced midfielder Michael Paton back to the squad. City will continue to be without Cammie Ross who is cup-tied whilst Luc Bollan continues to be sidelined through injury.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Speaking on the initial tie against Darvel at Glebe Park, Manager Andy Kirk said, "I think a draw was a fair result to be honest. In the first 15-20 minutes there wasn't much between the teams but Darvel started to get a hold of the game and got their goal, at that stage they were the better team going into half time.

"At half time we spoke about increasing the intensity as I didn't think we were particularly great in the first half and we didn't move the ball the way we normally do.

"Without being brilliant, the second half was much better but there is much more to come from us in the replay hopefully. On the night I don't think anyone can argue that a draw was the fair result."

David Cox moved into double figures for the season with his equaliser on Monday. Andy added, "As a forward, you try and create opportunities and that's the hardest part of the game. He gets a wee bit of luck with the break of the ball but he still had a bit to do after that and the finish was fantastic. We were pleased to get back on level terms and at that stage we were starting to get a hold of the game ourselves."

Looking ahead to tomorrow's match, Andy said, "There is nothing to fear. Darvel are a good side with a lot of experience and technically gifted players in the team. It will be a strong test and they will be confident but likewise if we put in the right performance we can get a result.

"We know what's awaiting us in the next round if we are fortunate enough to get there, but our full focus is on Saturday."
