Match Preview | Brechin City v Stenhousemuir - By Steven Mew

City head into the final league match of the season against Stenhousemuir looking for a positive result to take into the upcoming playoff matches.

With one defeat in the last four leagues games, it has been a slight upturn in form for City and Michael Paton's side will be keen to build on that against the Warriors who have recently appointed Stephen Swift as their new Manager.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to without the services of Michael Paton and Gerry McLauchlan through injury. They are joined by on-loan Rangers defender Harris O'Connor who came off injured against Albion Rovers at the weekend.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Following a point on the road against Albion Rovers on Saturday, Player/Manager Michael Paton commented, "Up until their penalty I didn't think Albion Rovers really threatened - we dealt with a lot of crosses and picked up second balls very well. It was unfortunate that Luc (Bollan) conceded the penalty - it's a bit of a sore one because of the energy levels and the effort that the boys put in. There were two or three mistakes in the lead up to the penalty but overall the performance was pleasing.

"The defence really upped their game and communicated well with each other, which is something that we've been lacking. We need to use this game as a bit of momentum and the players showed that they fighting for their place for the upcoming matches.

"We're using these games as platforms to prepare well and get minutes in the legs for players that haven't had as much game time whilst protecting those that have been asked to play numerous games in a short space of time. As a squad we need to ensure that everyone is 100 percent ready going into these playoffs.

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 1-1 Stenhousemuir - 6 April 2021
A City side down to the bare bones earned a hard fought point against Stenhousemuir at Glebe Park at the start of April. Despite listing six substitutes, the reality was that City went into the match with only 12 fit outfield players available.

Kieran Inglis opened the scoring after 12 minutes only for Jack Hodge to equalise from range ten minutes before the break.
