ABDUL OSMAN SIGNS - By Steven Mew

Brechin City FC is delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Abdul Osman, subject to international clearance.

With excess of 400 senior appearances, the 33-year old Ghanaian brings a wealth of experience to the side, having played in the top two tiers of the SPFL, as well as League 1 & 2 in England and the top flight in Greece. Standing at 6 foot tall, he provides a real presence in the middle of the park.

'Abs' started his career at Hampton & Richmond Borough and also represented Watford and Maidenhead United as a youngster. He moved north of the border in 2007 to sign for Gretna in the Premier League, before the Anvil's administration saw him become a free agent.

A fruitful 3 season spell with Northampton Town followed, where he notably netted the winning penalty at the Kop end to help the Cobblers knock Liverpool out of the League Cup in September 2010.

He then headed across Europe in 2011, signing for Kerkyra in the Greek Superleague where he spent a season before returning to the UK with Crewe Alexandra where he was a mainstay of the side in League One.

The well-travelled midfielder was back up north to join Partick Thistle - then of the Scottish Premiership - where he served as club captain for much of his 4 years at the Firhill side.

After his departure from the Jags, Osman had another spell in Greece with Lamia before returning to play for Falkirk, Queen of the South and most recently Dartford in England.

Manager Michael Paton said, "I'm absolutely delighted to get Abs over the line. He's another real experienced head and comes with a wealth of football knowledge as well. I played with him last year at Queen of the South - he is a leader and a real presence on the park.

"I'm happy that he's decided to come to Brechin. He's up for the battle - he knows where we're at and he knows where we want to go as a club. He wants to be part of the journey and say he helped Brechin get back to where we want to be. We're really looking forward to seeing him in a City shirt."
