Match Preview | Stenhousemuir v Brechin City - By Steven Mew

City are on the road tomorrow afternoon as they travel to face Stenhousemuir at Ochilview looking to end a run of four consecutive defeats.

Similarly, Davie Irons' side are also coming into the game off the back of 4 straight defeats in all competitions following an inconsistent start to the season. The Warriors currently occupy 6th position in League 2 - five points above bottom placed City.

TEAM NEWS
City will continue to be without the experienced duo of Jonathan Page (oblique strain) and Jimmy Scott (calf), whilst Sean McIntosh will again miss out with a hip problem.

Connor Coupe will be assessed after taking a knock, however the Manager is hopeful that he will have recovered sufficiently in time for tomorrow's match.

Matty Todd limped off late on against Stranraer last weekend but has been given the green light for tomorrow after receiving treatment from parent club Dunfermline throughout the week.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the defeat against Stranraer last week, Player/Manager Michael Paton said "We need to start taking a foothold of the first 10-15 minutes of the game. We fought back and started to work some good passages of play and we felt the goal coming. It was something we've been working on in the training ground and Luc Bollan met the corner well - we felt it was a deserved equaliser.

"Again we start the first 10-15 minutes of the second half poorly and a lack of concentration at a set piece let us down. Any time we switch off we are being punished for it and that's what happens when you are bottom of the league."

Winger Connor Coupe made his first start for the Club following an injury and pre-season and completed the full 90 minutes. Michael commented, "Connor came on against Queen's Park and he looked lively. He tracked back and he was a threat going forward. He deserved his chance to start against Stranraer - he was obviously tiring towards the end as it was his first full 90 minutes in some time but it was good to get more game time under his belt. He showed some flashes of brilliance and the Stranraer keeper made a wonder save to deny him, and the following corner resulted in the goal. Hopefully he can keep that level of performance up."

Looking ahead to the trip to face Stenhousemuir tomorrow, he said, "I've played with and against a number of their players and they have a lot of options going forward. Every game is going to be hard for Brechin in this league and we need to make sure we are going into these matches with belief and confidence that we're going to get something out of it. It's another chance for us to learn and develop as a team, build relationships and get that confidence back again in order to climb the league."

PREVIOUS MEETING
Stenhousemuir 2-2 Brechin City - 11 January 2020
The sides shared the spoils at Ochilview in January last season. Olly Hamilton opened the scoring for City five minutes before half-time but goals from Andy Munro and David Hopkirk gave the Warriors the advantage until a goal from skipper Paul McManus six minutes from the end earned the visitors a valuable point.
