Edinburgh City v Brechin City - Match Preview - By Steven Mew

With last weekends fixture falling victim to the weather, City are back in action as we travel to face promotion chasing Edinburgh City at Ainslie Park tomorrow afternoon.

TEAM NEWS
New loan signing Alex Petkov met the players at training this week and the Bulgarian defender will be available for selection tomorrow. Manager Mark Wilson said, "He had a slight injury last week which Hearts were understandably not wanting to risk however he's now fit and looked good in training on Wednesday - we look forward to seeing him in action."

After being advised that Ross Brown had sustained a bad sprain to his ankle in training last week, the Club were told yesterday that there may be a hairline fracture which will keep him out for a number of weeks. However, Luke Watt returned to training this week following a hamstring injury.

MANAGERS COMMENTS
Mark said, "We'd have liked the game on last week as midweek matches aren't ideal at this level with the boys being part time and having to balance it with their day jobs. The games will come thick and fast now and we'll just have to deal with it."

Looking ahead to the trip to Edinburgh on Saturday he said, "Edinburgh are a good team and James has got them playing some good football - we have seen that a couple of times this season. Before I came in, the boys came close to getting a decent result down there and lost out to a last gasp goal. I didn't think there was a lot between in the teams in the last meeting and we shot ourselves in the foot by conceding two late goals. We clawed our way back into it but we left ourselves with too much to do.

"We can definitely go down there and cause them problems. There is a lot more experience in the side now and more games under the belt. Even though we are on a poor run of form, we will go there in a positive mood. We can get results against any team in the league, we just need to ensure we are solid at the back and we hope the addition of Alex (Petkov) can help us in that respect."

MATCH OFFICIALS
The referee tomorrow will be Lloyd Wilson. He will be assisted by Michael Banks and Jordan Cousland.

PREVIOUS MEETING
Brechin City 2-3 Edinburgh City - 2 November 2019
Despite a late second half brace from striker Emile Ngoy, City left empty handed from the last meeting between in the sides at Glebe Park in November. A terrific strike from Marc Laird midway through the first half gave the visitors the lead and it remained that way up until 6 minutes from time when Ngoy headed home an equaliser. However, the Citizens regained the lead almost immediately through Danny Handling and the same player went on to add a third goal from the spot on 90 minutes. There will still time for Ngoy to pull a goal back to ensure a nervy finish, however James McDonaugh's side held out and returned to the Capital with all 3 points.
