Brechin City 0-6 Dundee United - By Steven Mew

City's pre-season schedule continued last night with Robbie Neilson's Dundee United side running out comfortable winners in the Glebe Park sunshine.

The home side were without the services of 4 signed players in Luke Watt, Ross McCord, Fionn McLeod and Ross Crawford meaning that the squad continued to be littered with trialists looking to catch Barry Smith's eye.

There was however the return of Paddy O'Neil, Dougie Hill and Paul McManus who didn't feature against Dundee last weekend.

The Tangerines would prove too strong for a young City side and they were 3-0 up at the break through goals from Sam Stanton, Osman Sow and Logan Chalmers.

The second half was again mostly one way traffic but City did come close on 54 minutes when trialist number 11 struck the top of the bar with a 25 yard free kick.

Further goals from Louis Appere, Liam Smith and Paul Watson added the gloss to a convincing win for the Tangerines, with Paddy O'Neil producing an outstanding save to deny Lawrence Shankland a 7th goal.

City will lock horns with Ray McKinnon's Falkirk side on Tuesday at Glebe Park in the last pre-season friendly before the Betfred Cup starts with a trip to Forfar next Saturday.
