Brechin City v Stenhousemuir - Match Preview - By Steven Mew

After two consecutive matches on the road, it's back to home comforts for City tomorrow afternoon as we welcome Stenhousemuir to Glebe Park.

Like City, the Warriors are adjusting to having a new Manager at the helm as Colin McMenamin was appointed as Brown Ferguson's successor last week. McMenamin led Stenny to a famous win as Caretaker against Falkirk a fortnight ago, but went down 5-2 to Arbroath at Gayfield last week.

Following promotion from League Two last season, Stenny currently sit bottom of the division and have lost 11 of their opening 15 league games, three more than any other side. They will be acutely aware that a win tomorrow would bring them to within a point of City. Whilst it is far too early to be brandishing the term 'six-pointer', both clubs will view tomorrow's match as being vitally important.

TEAM NEWS
Skipper Paul McLean continues to work towards full fitness and may feature on the bench. Remaining on the sidelines however are Ryan McGeever, Dene Shields and loanee Callum Hendry, with a doubt over another squad member through illness.

Manager Barry Smith said, "We have to accept that the squad is stretched right now, and we're asking players to fill in at times to unfamiliar positions - so that in turn makes consistency very difficult.

"We are still looking for performances that we all enjoy and supporters can rest assured the players are working hard on the training pitch to produce exactly that."

MATCH OFFICIALS
Gavin Ross will take charge of the game tomorrow - he will be assisted by Gordon Crawford and Chris Hughes. Ross officiated the 2-2 draw against Arbroath at Gayfield in September.

PREVIOUS MEETING
Stenhousemuir 1-0 Brechin City (4th August 2018) - City travelled to Ochilview for the opening league game of the season back in August hoping to get off to a winning start. They would leave empty handed after an early own goal by Dougie Hill handed 10-man Warriors all three points.
