CLUB STATEMENT - By Brechin City FC

Club Statement

Brechin City FC have confirmed that Manager Darren Dods and Assistant Manager Lee Bailey have departed The Club with immediate effect.

Dods took over as Player-Manager in June 2015 following the departure of Ray McKinnon to Raith Rovers, and was joined on arrival by former City striker Lee Bailey, who would be his assistant.

During the first season with Dods and Bailey at the helm, relegation seemed all but inevitable but a late resurgence saw City secure a seventh place finish by winning 8 of the final 10 games in what would become known as City's own Great Escape.

In the following season City would go on to secure a fourth place finish, and two play-off victories over Raith Rovers and Alloa Athletic then saw The Glebe Park side elevated to the SPFL second tier for the first time in over a decade. Although City returned to League One after one season in The Championship, Dods also took his players to Glasgow's east end to face Celtic in The Scottish Cup.

Chairman Ken Ferguson said

"We wish to place on record our thanks to Darren & Lee for the work, time and effort they dedicated to Brechin City FC during the past 3 years with the Club. We have experienced many ups and downs during this time and we are grateful to both for the professional manner they have conducted themselves whilst representing the Club. Football is of course a results driven game and after some discussion it was amicably agreed that we needed a change to try and improve our fortunes on the park. We wish Darren and Lee every future success wherever their football career takes them."

The Club can also confirm that Stevie Campbell, currently a coach at Glebe Park and a former Youth Coach at Dundee United, will take over as Interim Manager until a permanent appointment is made.
