Airdrieonians v Brechin City - Match Preview - By Steven Mew

City travel to the Penny Cars Stadium tomorrow afternoon hoping to increase the unbeaten run to six, but will be keen to get a win on the board after four successive draws. Airdrie, however has never been a happy hunting ground for City, with just one win in the last 10 visits there.

Airdrieonians and City currently sit 4th and 5th respectively in League One on exactly the same points total (10) and same goal difference (0). The Diamonds sit above City having scored 3 more goals.

TEAM NEWS
Dougie Hill continues to struggle to shake off a heel injury sustained against Dumbarton over a month ago and is likely to miss out. Dene Shields has received confirmation that he'll require an operation to repair his cruciate knee ligament in an injury sustained at Links Park against Montrose. Everyone else in the squad is fit and available for selection.

Manager Darren Dods commented, "It's hugely disappointing, not least for Deno himself, but for everyone at the club as this will keep him out for a lengthy period of time. He's a popular guy so we wish him well and hope for a speedy recovery.

"We're all looking forward to playing Airdrie in what is the last game of the first round of matches. Hopefully we can finish the quarter on a high before a weekend without competitive action due to the international break."

There will be a few familiar faces in the Airdrie squad, with skipper Sean Crighton and Chris O'Neil having played for City in the Championship last season. In addition to those two, striker Darryl Duffy also had a loan spell at City as a youngster whilst he was on the books of Rangers.

MATCH OFFICIALS
The referee for tomorrow's fixture will be Colin Steven, he will be assisted by Ross Haswell and David Ingram. Steven last took charge of a City game in a 4-0 midweek defeat away to Inverness at the tail end of last season.

LAST TIME OUT
City recorded their fourth draw in succession last weekend as Stranraer netted a late equaliser to salvage a point at Glebe Park. Callum Tapping had put City ahead in the first half with a sublime free kick before Luke Donnelly equalised for the Blues five minutes from time.

Airdrieonians, meanwhile, took the lead against Arbroath at Gayfield through Joao Vitoria but succumbed to the Lichties in the second half, eventually losing 3-1.

PREVIOUS MEETING
The Diamonds came out on top in the last meeting between the sides in April last year. Ex-City striker Iain Russell was on top form with a double in a 3-1 win. City's goal came courtesy of an own goal from Jack Leitch.
