Brechin City v Peterhead - Match Preview - By Steven Mew

The competitive action gets underway tomorrow afternoon for City as we welcome Peterhead to Glebe Park in the first tie of the Betfred Cup Group Stage.

City endured a torrid time in the Championship last season - Darren Dods' side will be keen to put that firmly behind them as they look to hit the ground running against a Blue Toon side who have been named as the bookies favourites to lift the League Two title.

TEAM NEWS
Darren Dods has a full squad to choose from with the exception of Ryan McGeever and Andy Jackson who are still working their way back to fitness following long term injuries sustained last season.

New signings Conor Brennan, Sean Burns, Dougie Hill, Jordan Tapping, Dene Shields and Giuliano Morena will be amongst the squad. A further trialist who have impressed in pre-season has agreed terms and the club are currently awaiting international clearance which will hopefully go through before the game.

MATCH OFFICIALS
The referee for the game is David Dickinson who takes charge of a City match for the first time. He will be assisted by Ross Haswell and Michael Addy.

ADMISSION INFORMATION
The Management Committee have confirmed reduced prices for both home Betfred Cup ties against Peterhead and Dunfermline Athletic. They are as follows:

- Adult £10
- Concession £5
- Supporters are reminded that season tickets are NOT valid for Betfred Cup fixtures.

Season tickets will be on sale within the Platinum Lounge from 2pm up until kick off.

The City Club bar situated within the David H Will Stand will be open (over 18's only) from 1:30pm and immediately following the game.

For those travelling to the game - due to roadworks, access from the A90 will be from the north entrance to the town only. The popular Harley Davidson event takes place in Brechin on Saturday and as a result there will be road closures and diversions in the centre of town also.

LAST MEETING
The last fixture between the two sides was back in March 2017 and it was City who emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win at Balmoor - with Andy Jackson netting the only goal midway through the second half. City would go on to win promotion to the Championship via the playoffs with Peterhead going the other way as they suffered relegation down to League Two.
