Falkirk v Brechin City: MATCH PREVIEW - By Grant Hood

Following the disappointment of Saturday morning’s call off against Dumbarton, travelling City fans have a midweek opportunity of seeing their favourites in action as Darren Dods and his players head to The Falkirk Stadium for a match originally scheduled for 16th December.

This re-scheduling certainly seems to suit the home side in that, had the match taken place on the original date, The Bairns would have come into it without a victory in 7 games. Fast forward to now, and it’s a very different sense of optimism around the hosts as, despite a home defeat to Livingston last time out, Paul Hartley’s men went into that game in an altogether more than decent run of form with 5 wins out of their prior 7 matches.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS
The clubs meet for the third time this season - City were well beaten by three goals to nil in the League Cup fixture in July however they put in an excellent performance to gain a point in the league match in September. Finn Graham’s second half goal cancelled out an early opener from Alex Harris.

You have to go all the way back to August 2003 for the last time City emerged victorious against the Bairns – with City stalwart Charlie King netting the winner in a Challenge Cup tie at The Glebe.

TEAM NEWS
Manager Darren Dods is expected to further refresh his starting line-up in search of that elusive first Championship victory. Callum Tapping and Callumn Morrison both tackled January debuts for City, and the latest new recruit Dylan Mackin immediately comes into contention for a starting slot. Defender Paul McLean is still struggling with an injury sustained during the defeat against Queen of the South at Dumfries last time out, and a late decision will be made on the City skipper, leaving long-term injury victim Ryan McGeever as the only definite non-starter.

MATCH OFFICIALS
The man-in-the-middle will be Mat Northcroft, who will be assisted by Frank Connor and George King. Northcroft has already officiated one City game this season, the 4-0 defeat to Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Glebe Park in August.
