Brechin City 2 East Fife 1

Match Report - By John Hoey

In a thrilling twist of fortune, Brechin City enjoyed a spectacular stoppage time winner against in-form play-off rivals East Fife as a thumping strike from Andy Jackson secured 3 vital points - allowing City to leap-frog the Fifers into 3rd place in League One.

City had endured the heartbreak of conceding goals beyond the 90 minute mark in each of the last 2 games, so the continuation of Jacko's hot scoring streak - goals in every one of the last 6 games - was as timely as it was welcome

City boss Darren Dods made just one change to the side that had lost to Alloa on Tuesday night with Ross Caldwell coming in for Ally Love who was on best man duty at a friend's wedding.

City started well and they grabbed the opener in the 19th minute when Jackson collected the ball at the edge of the East Fife box and deftly back-heeled it to Caldwell who then slipped it to Liam Watt who took a couple of steps before firing home a blistering right-foot drive into the bottom corner of the net.

The Fifers hit back after the break and they equalised eight minutes into the second-half when Chris Duggan was impeded in the box by Gary Fusco with Duggan stepping up to convert the spot-kick but City kept pushing forward and they got their reward deep into stoppage time when Jackson fired a magnificent strike into the roof of the net.
