Brechin City 3 Rangers 4

Match Report - By John Hoey

Brechin City went down by the odd goal in seven against Rangers at Glebe Park but despite the disappointment of losing this match, the City players performed really well throughout the 90 minutes and were extremely unfortunate not to have taken a share of the spoils at the very least.

City got off to the perfect start when Graham Hay headed home after just five minutes and a superb Johnny Brown free-kick saw them double their lead just five minutes later.
Rangers hit back with a Jon Daly goal after 25 minutes but Alan Trouten restored City's two-goal advantage ten minutes before the break.

It was clear that the visitors would put a lot of pressure on the home defence after the break and so it proved with Bilel Moshni reducing the deficit eight minutes into the second-half with Nicky Law levelling the score after 66 minutes.

City though were playing with confidence and putting a fair degree of pressure on the Gers defence but they were left shell-shocked five minutes from time when Nicky Clark scored the winner for Rangers.

It was a bitter pill for the City players to swallow as they had put so much into the game and deserved to take something from off.

Alan Trouten's sending-off right at the death exacerbated City's disappointment.
