Brechin City consolidated their third place position in the Irn Bru Second Division with a great 1-0 victory over Alloa at Recreation Park this afternoon.

The only goal of the game came in the 53rd minute when midfielder Alan Trouten fired home from the edge of the box.

City deserved their victory in this vital match and they now sit just seven points behind the Wasps but with five games in hand. With Forfar and Arbroath both drawing at home, City have also extended their lead over their Angus neighbours to six points with games in hand against both sides.
