Match Report - By John Hoey

East Fife moved back up to fourth place in the Second Division table after a 2-0 victory over City at Glebe Park.
Bobby Linn opened the scoring for the visitors after just 40 seconds when he took advantage of a slip from David McClune to rifle the ball into the far corner of the net. And John Robertson’s men doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when Robert Ogleby turned Mick Dunlop on the touchline and then moved quickly into the City penalty area before firing home a left-foot drive which Craig Nerlson was helpless to stop.
City tried hard to get themselves back into the game after the break but they could find no way past a resolute and well-organised Fifers defence.
The Methil men raced into a two goal lead within the first half-hour.
The first goal came after only 40 seconds when Linn was on hand to drill the ball home after a McClune slip had created the opening and it was 2-0 for the visitors in the 23rd minute when Ogleby turned Dunlop on the far touchline and raced in on goal before firing home a left-foot drive into the bottom corner of the net.
The Fifers should have made it 3-0 a couple of minutes into the second-half when Nelson brought off a great save to deny Ogleby but Charlie King was desperately unlucky not to claw back a goal in the 71st minute when his header from a Paul McLean cross from the left came back off the post.
The visitors missed another great opportunity when Ogleby blasted the ball high over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
