Brechin City 3 Stenhousemuir 1

Match Report - By John Hoey

Brechin City remain well on course to win a play-off place after a deserved 3-1 victory over Stenhousemuir at Glebe Park.

Rory McAllister, Jamie Redman and Neil Janczyk were on the mark for Jim Weir's men while Scott Dalziel grabbed the opener for the visitors.

Stenny made the early running and they grabbed the lead in the 8th minute.

Sean Dickson delivered a good corner from the right and Scott Dalziel was first to re-act bundling the ball into the net from around two yards out.

The Warriers should have doubled their lead in the 22nd minute when Grant Anderson completely mis-hit his shot right in front of goal.

Brechin kept pressing for the equaliser and it came just a couple of minutes before the break.

Rory McAllister picked up the ball at the edge of the Stenny box, turned Jordan Smith and then blasted a superb left-foot drive past Ally Brown in the Stenny goal.

City grabbed the initiative after the break and they deservedly went in front in the 54th minute when Jamie Redman powered home a headerfrom a Neil Janczyk corner after Brown had turned a David McKenna shot round the post.

City were now piling on the pressure and Brown came to the Warriers' rescue again in the 61st minute when he did well to hold a fierce 15 yard drive from Kevin Byers.

The hosts were now totally dictating play and they wrapped up the points with just eight minutes remaining when skipper Neil Janczyk fired home a glorious free-kick from the edge of the box and McAllister should have made it four right on the final whistle but he delayed too long in front of goal and the ball was cleared.
