Brechin City 3 Alloa Athletic 1

Match Report - By John Hoey

City put the seal on a fantastic week with a fully deserved 3-1 home victory against Alloa Athletic.

Rory McAllister, with a brace, and Calum Booth, were on the mark for City while David Gormley scored the visitor’s only goal.

City boss Jim Weir made a couple of changes to the side that started against Dundee on Tuesday night with Calum Booth and Kevin Byers both coming into the side at the expense of Neil Janczyk and David McKenna who dropped to the bench.

City dominated the early stages of the game and they deservedly grabbed the lead in the 20th minute when Booth collected a pass from Charlie King and fired home a tremendous left-foot drive which gave Wasps keeper Stevie Roberston no chance

Robertson was left helpless again just seconds later when King again supplied the ammunition, this time for McAllister, who drilled a low 20 yard drive into the bottom corner of the net.

City were playing some great football and looked dangerous every time they were on the attack but they were shocked when the visitors pulled a goal back in 28 minutes when David Gormley slotted the ball beyond Nelson after a Mick Dunlop header had come back off the bar.

Alloa put the City defence under a fair bit of pressure after the break and they came close with shots from Gormley and Bryan Prunty but McAllister wrapped up the points with a great goal with just ten minutes left on the clock.

Dispossessing Billy Gibson at the edge of the Alloa penalty-box, the striker bore in on goal before cracking home a superb angular drive well beyond the reach of Robertson.
