Mark Roberts came off the bench to hit a late double as Ayr came from two goals behind to beat Brechin.
Kevin Byers put Brechin ahead with a contender for goal of the season, Brechin doubled their lead through Rory McAllister.
Chris Aitken scored from penalty spot just before half time with Ryan Stevenson scoring the qualiser just after the restart.
Veteran striker Roberts volleyed his first in the 71st minute, before sealing victory six minutes later.
