Ayr United 0 Brechin City 1

Match Report - By Keith Johnston

Match report from the Sunday Mail:

"RAGING Ayr boss Mark Shanks blasted ref Chris Boyle for sending off Stewart Kean - his team's third red card in three games.

"Kean received a second booking for a tame challenge on keeper Craig Nelson even though Brechin stopper Scott Walker pleaded his innocence.

"Shanks hit out: 'It was nothing more than a blocking tackle but the ref declined to speak to me at the end of the game.

"'I felt his inexperience shone through.' Brechin made it five wins out of six when veteran striker Paul Ritchie fired the ball over stranded keeper Ludovic Roy after a Chris Templeman shot was deflected into his path three minutes after the break.

"Kean's sending-off in 72 minutes left Ayr with a mountain to climb but they plugged away without ever troubling Nelson.

"The game ended in more red mist when Brechin sub Kevin McLeish who had been on the park only 15 seconds was sent off for a bad challenge on Stuart McGrady."
