Alfie Joss Signs Professional Contract

Brechin City are delighted to announce that defender Alfie Joss has put pen to paper on his first senior contract with the Club, committing his future to City until the summer of 2029.

Alfie joined Brechin City in January as part of the U20s development side and quickly caught the eye after being given the opportunity to train with the senior squad during pre-season.

Having featured throughout pre-season, Alfie continued to impress and his progress was rewarded when he made his first competitive start for the Club against Musselburgh Athletic a fortnight ago, producing an impressive display in the heart of defence.

Manager Andy Kirk was delighted to see Alfie commit his future to the Club. He commented, “I am absolutely thrilled that young Alfie Joss has decided to sign a professional contract with the Club. Alfie joined Brechin in January as part of the U20s development side. During pre-season, I brought Alfie and a number of the U20 players into the first-team environment to train with the senior squad.

“Alfie quickly stood out, showing maturity, a great attitude, confidence and real quality on the ball. Since then, he has trained regularly with the first team and has continued to impress.

“Scott Fraser, Kevin Flynn and Leigh Kingston are doing a fantastic job with the U20s, not only in identifying young talent but also in supporting, coaching and developing these players with the aim of producing more youngsters capable of progressing into the first team.

“Alfie has only just turned 17, so there is naturally still a lot of development ahead of him. However, we are looking forward to supporting him in helping fulfil his potential and hopefully see him establish himself as a regular first-team player over the coming seasons.

“It is a really exciting opportunity for Alfie and one I’m sure that he will embrace.”

U20s Coach Scott Fraser also praised Alfie’s approach and development since joining the Club. He said, “His attitude towards improving his game and the way he has applied himself since joining us at U20 level has been excellent. He’s shown a real willingness to learn, has a strong work ethic and a desire to keep developing. Alongside his natural talent, these qualities are what make him deserving of this contract.”
