City make the long trip to Inverness tomorrow evening as they face Clachnacuddin at Grant Street Park in what promises to be another important Highland League encounter.
Andy Kirk’s men will be looking to bounce back following defeat to Fraserburgh at the weekend, a result which brought an end to an impressive run of four consecutive league victories.
Standing in their way, however, is a Clach side enjoying another excellent campaign and harbouring title ambitions of their own. The Inverness outfit currently sit just a single point behind City in the table, albeit having played two games more, adding further significance to tomorrow’s clash.
TEAM NEWS
City will be without on-loan midfielder Calvin Beattie, whilst Mitchell Findlay is a doubt after limping off against Fraserburgh at the weekend. Both Adam Hutchinson and Ben Armour who missed out at the weekend will also be assessed ahead of the game.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Following a defeat against Fraserburgh at the weekend, Manager Andy Kirk commented, “It’s always difficult up at Bellslea – it’s not been a great place for us over the course of our time in the Highland League. I thought it was a poor game overall. We never really got our foot on the ball in the first half and we were far too weak in the forward line and didn’t compete enough. We were a little bit better in the second half but still not good enough.
“We had a couple of chances early in the second half where Grady should score and Mitch also has an opportunity where he maybe should have played someone else in instead. Their goal comes from a long throw so we’re disappointed with that. We should have been able to clear the ball away up the pitch but instead we put it out for a throw in and we know Fraserburgh are strong from set pieces.
“We had points to catch up on when I came in and we have nearly done that. We still have two games in hand so we are still very much in the mix – it’s all about getting as many points between now and the end of the season and see where we end up, but need better performances than Saturday.
“We move on to tomorrow’s match and we will hopefully put in an improved showing.”

City’s dismal record at Bellslea Park continued at the weekend as they went down 1-0 to Fraserburgh. In a game bereft of any real quality, the home side netted eight minutes from time through Greg Buchan to secure all three points.
Clach meanwhile had to settle for a point at home to Formartine United at Grant Street Park despite taking a two goal lead through strikes from Ben Corner and Troy Cooper. Rory McAllister pulled one back for the visitors before Glen Murison netted the equaliser shortly after the hour mark.

The last meeting between the sides produced a dramatic Highland League Cup tie at the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park. James Anderson’s early goal had given the visitors the lead at the break, only for Finlay Allan to equalise 4 minutes into the second half.
Fraser Macleod netted with just over quarter of an hour to go and it looked as if that was enough to take City through into the next round however Struan Coli popped up two minutes into stoppage time with an equaliser for the Lilywhites.
The game looked destined for penalties but the drama wasn’t over there as Grady McGrath lashed home the winner with virtually the last kick of the game.
