City are back in action tomorrow afternoon as we welcome Inverurie Locos in the Highland League with Andy Kirk’s men looking to build momentum once again after an important midweek victory away to Clachnacuddin in Inverness.
Standing in City’s way will be an Inverurie side who have endured a difficult campaign and currently sit third from bottom of the Highland Football League. Locos had shown signs of improvement recently with a four-match unbeaten run, but arrive in Angus having lost their last two fixtures against Strathspey Thistle and Keith.

Tomorrow’s match is likely to come too soon for Adam Hutchinson and Calvin Beattie who missed out in midweek whilst Finlay Allan’s co-operation loan from Dundee has come to an end and has returned to the Dens Park side. Otherwise Andy Kirk should have the rest of his squad available for selection.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Looking back at a hard-fought win over Clach in midweek, Manager Andy Kirk said, “It was our sixth game in two and a half weeks – we were away from home again and obviously the conditions were terrible but the pitch was in good condition to be fair for this time of the season.
“We had good spells in the first half and got into good areas – we had a couple of decent chances through Sparky who should have hit the target with his effort and Mitch who had a one-on-one situation. We rode our luck a little bit at the other end – Clach are a decent team to be fair and they had their chances too in the first half but either side could have been ahead at the break.
“Second half I thought we had a bit more of the play and we had another one-on-one chance with Cillian shooting over. The longer the half went on you worry that we were going to get a sucker punch or not get the goal that we needed but eventually it came albeit quite scrappy. With the schedule we’ve had recently, playing in those conditions against a decent team – winning 1-0 is a great result. It’s another 3 points and another clean sheet which they all fought hard for.“
Looking ahead to the fixture against Inverurie Locos, Andy added, “Hopefully tomorrow we will be rested up and feeling good because we’re back at home and it’s a chance to continue clawing back some points. It will be another tough game but we’ve got to go about it in the right way and hopefully come away with the 3 points and get another winning run going.”

LAST TIME OUT
Both sides were in midweek action on Wednesday, with City earning a hard-fought 1-0 win over Clachnacuddin in difficult conditions in Inverness. The only goal of the game arrived 7 minutes from time as Cillian Sheridan took advantage of a spill from home keeper Mark Ridgers to net from close range.
Inverurie meanwhile went down to a 2-0 defeat against Keith at Kynoch Park, with Conor Bird and Nathan McKeown on target for the in-form hosts.

Inverurie Locos 1-2 Brechin City – 11th October 2025
The last meeting between the sides saw City edge Locos out for a hard-fought 3 points at Harlaw Park. Ben Armour headed City in front early on after 11 minutes, but the lead was short lived as Ethan Cairns equalised for the hosts just 4 minutes later.
Brechin began the second period with greater purpose and were rewarded just seven minutes after the restart. Mitch Taylor’s dangerous in-swinging cross was flicked on by Mitchell Findlay, whose delicate touch ended up in the net to restore City’s lead and ultimately earn the victory.
