City return to action at the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park on tomorrow afternoon as we welcome newly-promoted Stenhousemuir in our penultimate Premier Sports Cup Group E fixture.
It marks another stern test for Andy Kirk’s side, who face their third Championship opponents in the space of just seven days following meetings with Partick Thistle and Livingston. Despite the 2-0 defeat to the Lions in midweek, City produced an encouraging second-half display where they matched their full-time opponents for long spells.
City will be undoubtedly be looking to build on those positives as they continue to sharpen up ahead of the new Lowland League East campaign against Marvin Bartley’s side.
TEAM NEWS
City will be without long-term absentee Spencer Moreland whilst Adam Hutchinson will continue to be a doubt with a hamstring issue. Otherwise Andy Kirk should have the rest of his squad to select from.
MANAGERS COMMENTS

Reflecting on the defeat against Livingston in midweek, Manager Andy Kirk said, “Obviously I thought we were a lot better than Saturday which was a really difficult game for us. Before the game against Livingston we showed the players the goals we conceded and a lot of it was down to not picking up and matching runs – the basic stuff. We told them that they need to be focussed on that again as we were up against another strong Championship team.
“When you concede early you fear a little bit but we got to grips with the game and what Livingston were doing and second half I thought we were really good. We had some nice moments in the first half and I think we took a little bit of confidence from that and second half we were perhaps unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.
“We’re up against it at the minute with the opposition we’re up against but it will really push us and hopefully it will stand us in good stead for the league season starting. We’ve got good players here and I want us to play a certain way but it’s been difficult to do that in the last 3 games but there have been moments and it’s something for us to build on. As a group these games will help us mentally and physically as these teams test you with their movement.“
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s game Andy said, “We’re back at home and we know how good we can be at Glebe Park. We have to take confidence from that second half performance against Livingston and put in a good display against Stenhousemuir and hopefully we can get something from the game.”
