Brechin City FC are delighted to announce the signing of highly rated winger/forward Darren Watson on a 3-year contract from Broughty Athletic.
The deal will also see Mitchell Findlay go in the other direction to Broughty Athletic.
A player that has been on Andy Kirks’ radar for some time, Darren started our pre-season friendly against Dundee yesterday evening and arrives at the Glebe following an impressive two and half year spell at the Fed where he netted 52 goals in 96 matches.
A graduate of the Dundee United Academy, he made his senior debut against Rangers at Ibrox in December 2020 before going on to make 11 first team appearances for the Tangerines. Injury disrupted his progress at Tannadice before spending loan spells at East Fife and Forfar Athletic.
Darren went on to join Forfar Athletic on a permanent basis in June 2023 before making the switch to Broughty Athletic where he has caught the eye of City’s Management team.
A direct, pacey and versatile attacking player, Darren adds further quality and competition to the squad ahead of the new campaign.
The Club would like to place on record our thanks to Mitchell Findlay for his efforts during his time at the Club and wish him every success in his future career.
Manager Andy Kirk commented, “We are delighted to bring Darren to the Club. He is a player that we had watched a lot towards the end of last season. He is an exciting, dynamic player who can operate anywhere across the front line. He brings technical quality and real pace to the team.”
