The 6’3’’ centre back began his career at Cherno More Varna in Bulgaria before he joined Hearts at the age of 16 in June 2016. Alex made his debut for the Bulgarian Under-21 team in March 2019 in the starting eleven in a friendly against Northern Ireland U21's. Alex is now a regular starter with the Bulgarian U21 squad and already has 8 caps.

The son of Bulgarian Internationalist Milen Petkov, Alex has spent some time on loan this season to League One side Clyde.

Alex is keen to come and play for Brechin during this crucial spell for the Club as he recognises the role he can play and the experience he can bring to the remaining 13 games we have left to play. The Club wish to thank Alex and Hearts for helping the Club at this time.
