City face a long journey north this weekend looking to build on back-to-back wins as we travel to Harmsworth Park to take on Wick Academy.
Andy Kirk’s side will make the 10+ hour round trip in confident mood and will be determined to carry that momentum into tomorrow’s encounter as they continue to apply pressure on league leaders Brora Rangers.
City will come up against a Wick Academy side looking to turn their fortunes around. Currently sitting 15th in the table, the hosts have found wins hard to come by in recent weeks with just one victory in their last nine outings. Despite that run, the Caithness outfit will be eager to make home advantage count and frustrate a Brechin side fully focused on maintaining their title bid.

The City squad will be boosted by the return of defender Adam Hutchinson and midfielder Calvin Beattie who have both missed out in recent matches due to injury. City’s only definite absentee will be Ethan Crombie who is away on international duty with Scotland U17’s.
MANAGERS COMMENTS
Reflecting on the 4-1 victory over Inverurie Locos last weekend, Manager Andy Kirk said, “I was pleased to get another 3 points. That was our 6th or 7th game in the space of 3 weeks and it’s been a tough schedule for the players. We put a lot into the game against Clach in midweek and it wasn’t easy conditions to play in after a long journey. Full credit to the players as they’ve not complained once about it and they have showed a great attitude and go into each game giving everything.
“I don’t want to make excuses for the players but I think that takes its toll and you could see that in the first half against Inverurie – we were slow with decision making and choice of pass. We just needed to bring a bit of extra energy into the game.
“The second half was better, we made a few changes and we had a lot more energy about us. Inverurie were well organised and made things difficult for us but it was just about us continuing to plug away and try and get our noses in front which we did. The goal gave us the confidence to go on and score another 3 and some of the goals were excellent.
“We will have another couple of players back available for tomorrow’s game which will boost the squad and with no midweek game that has allowed a few of the boys to recover from the recent schedule. We are looking forward to tomorrow’s game – it’s a long journey but we will stay in Inverness on Friday night and do our best to help the players and hopefully we can go on to win the game.”

City head into the game off the back of a 4-1 home victory over Inverurie Locos last weekend. Following a goalless first half, City turned on the style in the second period as Brad McKay opened the scoring with a header, followed by a brace from substitute Grady McGrath. Mark Souter pulled one back for the visitors however City restored their 3-goal cushion almost immediately after the restart through Mitchell Findlay.
Wick’s last outing also came last weekend as they went down 2-0 to Strathspey Thistle at Seafield Park. Goals in either half from Andrew Macleod and Calum Brown ensured the points stayed in Grantown.

Despite having 6 players missing through injury, City delivered a dominant and clinical performance to defeat Wick Academy 5–1 at the Carnegie Fuels Stadium at Glebe Park in October. The home side controlled the match from the outset, creating early chances before captain Mitch Taylor opened the scoring with a superb volley. City continued to apply pressure and Ben Armour doubled the lead before half-time with a composed finish, leaving Wick offering little attacking threat.
After the break, Brechin maintained their dominance, with Armour adding a second goal followed by strikes from Cillian Sheridan and substitute Grady McGrath, the latter from the penalty spot. Wick managed a late consolation through Owen Rendall, but it did little to dent an otherwise commanding display.
