Brechin City 2 Stranraer 0

Match Report - By John Hoey

Brechin City overcame the odds to defeat Stranraer by 2-0 at Glebe Park.

Both goals came in the opening 45 minutes with Ally Love hitting home the opener with a superb drive after 15 minutes and 17 year old youngster Connor McLennan who had signed on loan from Aberdeen the evening before drilling home a tremendous right-foot drive seven minutes before the break.

It was a vital win for City who had started the game minus five players and who lost defender Darren McCormack with a back injury and goalkeeper Graeme Smith with a calf knock within minutes of each other in the first-half.

However, no-one could deny that Darren Dod's men fully deserved their victory. The players overcame the odds and worked their socks off to achieve this win which takes them back up to third place in the Ladbrokes League One table.
