Co-operative Insurance Cup - By Secretary

THE CO-OPERATIVE INSURANCE CUP FOOTBALL FAMILY FUNDAY AT GLEBE PARK

The Co-operative Insurance Cup will take centre stage at the beginning of the new football season when Brechin City FC take on Elgin City FC in the first round of the Cup on Saturday 1 August 2009.

To celebrate the launch of the new Cup campaign, the clubs and The Co-operative Insurance are giving youngsters the chance to support their local team by offering free entry for Under 16s plus there will be youth coaching sessions, Co-operative Insurance Cup Skills posters and mini footballs up for grabs to get the domestic season off to a flying start.

Scottish Football League Chief Executive David Longmuir believes The Co-operative Insurance Football Family Funday initiative is a perfect example of how The Co-operative Insurance and the Scottish Football League are investing in the future of the game: “We are making the first round of this season’s competition a great day out for youngsters as they are the next generation of football fans.”

Aileen Walters, Sponsorship Manager for The Co-operative Insurance, agrees: “In addition to free Under 16s tickets, free mini footballs and posters, the plans we have in place for The Co-operative Insurance Cup 1st Round also include having junior mascots and the home and away youth teams involved in a fun half time challenge. I’m sure The Co-operative Insurance Cup Football Family Funday will be a great way to start the new football season and something the whole family can get involved in.”

Tickets for the games are available from clubs and for more information about The Co-operative Insurance Cup Family Fundays visit www.scottishfootballleague.com
