Brechin City v Dunfermline Athletic: Match Preview - By Grant Hood

Brechin City welcome Championship leaders Dunfermline Athletic to Glebe Park, clashing for the first time since The Pars clinched the League One Championship in a 3-1 victory at East End Park in March 2016.

City come into the game on the back of a disappointing outcome from last weekend’s journey to the west coast to face Dumbarton. The concession of 2 late goals mean the Glebe Park side are still looking for a first Ladbrokes Championship victory, whilst the visitors are enjoying a hot streak of form with 5 wins out of their first 6 league games to date – enjoying an impressive 3-0 victory over St Mirren last weekend.

The red card issued to Aron Lynas against The Sons means City manager Darren Dods is forced into at least one change to his starting line-up, as the youngster faces the first of a 2-game suspension. Other than that, it’s business-as-usual for the City gaffer with little in the way of new developments on the squad front. Striker Andy Jackson remains sidelined and undergoes a scan this weekend to fully assess his ongoing groin injury.

Given The Pars’ encouraging start to the campaign a large travelling support is expected so, given that there is no segregation in place, home fans are encouraged to arrive at Glebe Park well in advance of kick-off.

In addition to a visit to the new Supporters Club Shop now situated behind The David H Will Stand, supporters of both sides are reminded that free access to The City Club is available to over-18s from 1pm through until kick-off. It then re-opens after full-time through to 8pm, with live BT Sport coverage of Leicester City v Liverpool from the English Premier League.

Copies of Brechin City’s official Matchday Magazine “A View from the Hedge” will be available for sale prior to the kick-off for only £2, and an authorised pre-match bucket collection will take place on behalf of BRAVO, the town’s own community organisation.

The match is being sponsored by Falck Safety Services and the matchball has been sponsored by local hairdressers, Steelfingers - and The Management Committee would like to thank both businesses for their invaluable ongoing support.
