As a result of Brechin City’s Play-Off success, Glebe Park hosts its first second-tier match since 2006, as last season’s runaway League One Champions come to town.

In a season which will see City face several less familiar opponents, it’s Livingston who provide the opposition for the first Ladbrokes Championship action at home this season.

The two sides clashed four times last season, with City failing to making any sort of meaningful impact. Livingston enjoyed a 10-1 aggregate scoreline, winning comfortably on each occasion.

Manager Darren Dods knows his side has its work cut out to reverse that trend, as Livingston have started the season in fine form. David Hopkin’s side topped their Betfred Cup group and went on to defeat Falkirk after extra time to secure themselves a slot in the quarter finals – being the only non-Premiership side to do so.

City have yet to find their feet at the higher level this season, but it’s been widely acknowledged that any positive impact in the Championship will have to be founded on home form.

News from the City camp confirms that both James Dale and Aron Lynas are available for selection having last week served their one game suspension carried forward from last season. Conversely, central defender Ryan McGeever remains sidelined as he serves the second of a two-game ban. Nearing full recovery from a broken wrist, attacking midfielder Liam Watt comes back into contention to make his first appearance of the season. Given the game is against his most recent employers Liam himself is more than keen to play, but the Manager will make a late decision on that. Another player has reported an illness earlier in the week, but hopes remain high that he has fully recovered in time for the kick-off.

The game marks the opening of the re-branded City Club (formerly The 1983 Hospitality Lounge) allowing free entry for supporters of both teams from 1pm – restricted to over-18s only – as well as the launch of the brand new and exclusive Platinum Lounge.

A View From The Hedge” – the Club’s matchday magazine will also be available for sale prior to the game for only £2.00.
