Brechin City - Raith Rovers Match Preview - By John Hoey

Brechin City - Raith Rovers Match Preview

Brechin City will welcome Raith Rovers to Glebe Park tomorrow night for the Championship semi-final first-leg play-off tie and City supporters are respectfully reminded that Season Tickets are NOT VALID for play-off ties in line with established Club protocol. The only exception to this is the children who have received free entry all season as a result of the "Free Season Tickets For Schoolchildren" promotion.

City will be very keen to give a good account of themselves and go into Saturday's second-leg match at Starks Park on the back of home victory and no effort will be spared from the players in order to achieve that objective.

John Hughes's Raith side completed their season on Saturday with a home win over already relegated Ayr United but they failed to maintain their Championship status following St. Mirren's draw at champions Hibernian with the Buddies and Dumbarton both having a superior goal difference over the Fifers albeit that all three teams ended up with the same points total.

City of course came back from Ochilview on the same day with the point they required for a play-off place but their delight was somewhat tempered by the news immediately following the match that both Alan Trouten and Ally Love who both had to come off against the Warriors would be certain to miss tomorrow night's clash. However, a day or two can make a difference and although 'Trouts' is definitely out joining Darren McCormack, Gareth Rodger and Euan Smith on the side-lines, there is a glimmer of hope regarding Ally who manager Darren Dods rates at 50-50. Raith boss John Hughes will be without goalkeeper Pavel Penska following his red card against Ayr on Saturday.
